Walking clears the mind. When the world is darkest do nothing. Accept that you are down. Try and do a small thing or two. Above all walk; leave the earbuds and phone at home. Try to think of nothing. Thoughts will then come randomly. Initially these will probably be bad thoughts, but these will clarify. You may even get angry. That is okay. Eventually the thoughts will distill and clarify. The fog will lift. Ideas will form and coalesce into practical action. Optimism will return. This may take days or weeks, but when the mind has downtime it sorts out problems and releases its best ideas. Then slowly turn these into actions. Once you have optimism, it will show outwardly and good things will happen.
