FRIENDSHIP
People choose friends for a variety of reasons, but there should be only reason for doing so, as the Australian author Nikki Gemmell wrote, “cultivate your friends for what’s in their heart, not for how they look or what they do – or what they can do for you” (The Australian Magazine, June 02-03, 2012). It is simply wrong to treat people as consumer items, pretending to be their friend, using them and then discarding them, but that happens too often. A true friend gives without expecting anything in return and never leads anyone on.
